Core i7-8700HQ 6 core mobile CPU shows up

Around one month after the AIDA64 ‘leak’ the new Intel mobile CPU finally shows up, it seems to be a protoype. The CPU is based on the Coffee Lake architecture. The user By1213131 from the Tieba.com forum was in hurry while taking the three screenshots but they are legit and not faked as far as I can tell.

So here are the fact we know right now

  • There will be a change from 4C/8T to 6C/12T cores and threads. But it’s not official confirmed and there could be a minor change coming, personally I expect nothing but 6C/12T.
  • Core i9 will be the official name for the notebook cpu’s as well as for the desktop CPU’s. Manufractures decided in the last minute to change the name from i7 to i9 (Desktop market).
  • 45W TDP seems realistic and this would explain the “i9” attribute.
  • The final version should have a higher frequency performance.

Since mobiel CPU’s getting better and better, will you next machine a laptop or still a desktop system? – Let me know.
