Canonical has pulled their latest Ubuntu 17.10 release because there are many reports of Lenovo and other brand laptops experiencing corrupted BIOS when the OS is installed. At this time it looks like the Intel SPI driver is the culprit. Once a new kernel is compiled without these drivers the OS will be made available for download once again. If you downloaded this before this morning then you shouldn’t install on your laptop. In some cases only a motherboard replacement will fix the bad BIOS.

AMD has begun rolling out a new Adrenalin Edition driver update, though unlike Nvidia’s recently released GPU driver, it’s not geared towards improving performance in PUBG. Instead, AMD focused its efforts on squashing nearly a dozen bugs.

Nvidia has released their last game ready driver of the year and it’s for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. To install fire up GeForce Experience and click the “Drivers” tab.
It is highly recommended that you install only the components that you need, and not all of the components. If you don’t make use of 3D for instance or have the necessary hardware, you may not want to install the 3D components that the driver comes with. Now, PUBG is exiting Early Access with a new desert map, a new, game-changing vaulting mechanic, new guns, new vehicles, a replay system, a death cam, tweaks to the original Erangel map, and a whole load of optimization. And of course, there’s our new Game Ready driver, with further optimizations and tweaks, delivering the fastest and smoothest PUBG experience of any platform.
The latest Nvidia graphics driver for Windows 10 comes with support or improvements for the following games and features:
- Game Ready support for PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS.
- Support for CUDA 9.1.
- Added or update SLI profile for Warframe.
- Added or updated 3D Vision profiles for: Black Desert, ELEX, Forza Motorsport 7, JX3 Online, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUND
The new driver fixes several issues that users may have experienced in the past:
- YouTube video flickering in fullscreen mode.
- Video artifacts when pausing videos on YouTube on notebooks.
- Lines that appear across the screen when Windows boots.
- TDR error, screen goes blank while burning a Blu-Ray disc at high-resolution on NVIDIA Titan V hardware.
- Driver may not install or be recognized on notebooks with Geforce GTX 1080 hardware.
Open issue:
- Star Wars Battlefront II hangs when the game is launched in DirectX 12 API mode on Kepler GPU systems.
- Gears of War 4 players may experience a Bluescreen when they play the game on Pascal GPU systems.
- The operating system may fail after installing a Geforce Titan (Kepler-based) graphics card on a Threadripper-enabled mainboard.
- Systems with GeForce GTX 780 Ti cards may have no display output when the card is connecting the Display Port and two DVI monitors.
- G-Sync displays may go blank on Nvidia Titan V systems when you switch between different overclocked memory clocks several times
The releases notes can be downloaded here. The new driver is already available on Nvidia’s official drivers download website.
Such is the level of optimization that you can now play PUBG at over 60 FPS, with High Settings on mid-range graphic cards and mid-range CPU’s.
