Reddit doesn’t accept Bitcoin anymore

The widely read social media site will no longer accept Bitcoin as payment for its Reddit Gold program. The change was made because Coinbase discontinuing its Merchant Tool product.

Edword Snowden reveals that Bitcoin and Blockchain are monitored since the beginning

It’s not really a surprise anymore, since basically everything will be abused and monitored – if possible – but for those which aren’t involved in the security topics – Edward Snowden is behind the new information writings by The Intercept revealing that the NSA has been tracking Bitcoin users since 2013.

Snowden has classified documentation that shows the NSA has access to the various fiber optic cables that have the entire of the internet running through them.

CPU, GPU and RAM prices to increase by over 20%

SUMCO is a Japanese based company and is responsible for more than 60% of the world’s silicon wafer supply. With a 20 percent price increase, CPU, GPU, DRAM and Flash makers may have taken their business elsewhere, but it looks like they won’t necessarily have that opportunity. This week, GlobalWafers Chairwoman, Doris Hsu, informed shareholders that the company would raise prices for silicon wafers by 20 percent this year. This is really a bad news because electronics getting more expensive for all of us.

Samsung designes crypto-currency mining chips

New reports from last week hit South Korean outlet The Bell, where they reported Samsung had started manufacturing ASICs that they would provide to a Chinese mining firm, that is anonymous for now. A company spokesperson has told TechCrunch that “Samsung’s foundry business is currently engaged in the manufacturing cryptocurrency mining chips”. This is gigantic news as right now, TSMC is the king of ASIC miners that they ship a large majority to Bitmain, the China-based Bitcoin miner that has over 70% of the market share.
